On World Environment Day We’re Focused on Plastic Reduction

Did you know that today is World Environment Day? Dating back to 1974, this annual event is a global platform that raises awareness and drives action on urgent environmental issues. This year, the day kicks off the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration and we’re happy to consider ourselves part of the movement towards restoration through our focus on plastic reduction.

Prioritizing Plastic Reduction in Our Products

We believe that one of the most effective ways to reduce plastic in our environment is not to introduce it in the first place. That’s why we reimagined our product packaging to eliminate the use of plastic last year. Eliminating the plastic shrink wrap that encased our cans, we’ve relaunched our products in cardboard boxes. These boxes—and the cans inside them, are fully recyclable—making them environmentally friendly.

Plastic Reduction in Our Environment

Our new packaging is just one part of the equation! We’re also working to remove plastic from the environment through our partnership with CleanHub. For any amount of plastic used in the course of our operations, this organization recovers and removes a measured equivalent of plastic waste from the environment through recycling and waste management efforts.

Through our parent company, Ocean Brands, Club Des Millionnaires is also partnered with the Global Ghost Gear Initiative, or GGGI. Focused on the health of our oceans and marine life, GGGI removes abandoned and lost fishing gear around the world. By removing this gear, the organization effectively reduces plastic and other unwanted materials in the ocean. This protects vulnerable marine life from unintended harm and keeps reefs and other marine ecosystems healthy.

Plastic reduction isn’t the only way we work to restore the environment. Club Des Millionnaires is also committed to using responsible fishing practice that protect fish population and reduce bycatch. Always striving to improve, we work with a number of partners and organizations to ensure that we conduct business in a way that drives positive change and minimizes harm to the environment and society.
